Extracts of a speech by Robert Speirs, Chairman of Stagecoach Group plc, at the 25th Annual General Meeting of the Company held today at the Lesser City Hall, Perth:

“The Group’s profit before tax and exceptional items for the first three months of the financial year ending 30 April 2006 is in line with our expectations.

“We believe there are further opportunities for organic growth and the expansion of our rail portfolio, both of which can deliver increased value to our shareholders.

“Overall, the Group has made a promising start to the financial year.”
