Stagecoach has stepped in to help its employees who have lost money as a result of the collapse of Farepak.
The Perth-based transport company has pledged to ensure those among its 22,000 UK-based workforce affected by the crisis receive payments equalling 50% of the savings they have lost.
Managers are drawing up a list of employees at Stagecoach's bus, train and tram operations, from the Highlands of Scotland to south-west England, who have been hit by the problem.
Steps are being taken to ensure the employees affected receive the cash support before Christmas.
A Stagecoach Group spokesman said: “The Farepak collapse has hit many people across the country very hard and a number of companies have contributed to the relief fund that has been set up.
“We wanted to do something for any of our own employees who have been affected by this issue, and we hope this gesture will in some small way help to save their Christmas.”
